In today’s rapidly changing world, where technological advancements, globalisation, and economic fluctuations significantly impact the job market, graduate employment has become a critical national concern.

Recognising this, People’s Data, affiliated with People’s Daily, partnered with our partner in China, Jing Zhang, to host an insightful online talk on “Career Planning & Development.” Jing Zhang is a representative of Enterprise Evolution in China, which is the consultancy arm of Liverpool-based charity, The Women’s Organisation.

This event addressed the challenges and opportunities graduates face in securing fulfilling careers.

Our Partner Jing Zhang Gives Talk on Cultivating Employability

Beyond Employment: Cultivating Employability

Unlike the traditional focus on simply finding a job, Jing’s talk shifted the conversation towards a more holistic approach – cultivating employability.

This concept emphasises the skills, knowledge, and adaptability graduates possess that make them valuable assets to potential employers. This resonates with the core principles of the Creating Entrepreneurial Outcomes Programme (CEO), co-designed by Jing and Alison Price of The Women’s Organisation.

The CEO Programme is the inaugural UK-China collaborative educator training programme, designed to address China’s enterprise education requirements by incorporating contemporary European and UK approaches.

Jing says that by focusing on building employability, graduates can increase their competitiveness and thrive in this evolving landscape:

“I agree with Tony Robbins in that most of the challenges we have in our personal lives come from a short-term focus, and this is very true when graduates make career choices.

Instead of focusing on finding a job, they need to have a long-term view of improving employability and demonstrating to potential employers that they can bring value if hired.”

The recording of Jing’s talk will be a valuable resource for Chinese universities, colleges, and individuals seeking guidance on career planning and development. From more information please get in touch with alison@enterpriseevolution.org.uk
