Thiri has been with us since the early days of The WO (Swipe to the end for a major throwback!) Her invaluable contributions have been instrumental in advancing our mission of empowering women globally. ✊

As a symbol of strength, bravery and dignity to millions of women, we couldn’t agree more that Gisèle Pelicot is our person of the year.

Pelicot has single-handedly challenged her nation and beyond to address the pandemic of sexual violence and rape culture.

Through her insistence of an open trial, today the public has seen her abusers sentenced in front of the entire world.
